Visa Run From Phuket To Get Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am wanting to stay in thailand for 4 months (or 120 days). I currently have a single entry tourist visa for 60 days.

What's the best way to extend for another 60 days once this expires? can I go overland to a thai immigration office in a surrounding country or do I have to fly out?

Or is best to pay for the 30 day extension to make my current visa 90 days, then fly back in to get another 30 days?

I am wanting to do this visa run from Phuket.

Many Thanks!

Define "best way". There might be buses to Malaysia, but you will get only 15 days if you return by land. I would actually suggest to fly to K.L. or Penang, spend a couple of fun days there, and either just fly back (if you extended your stay at Phuket immigration) or get a new tourist visa there before flying back.

Too late now, but it would have been easier and cheaper had you applied for a double-entry from the beginning. But then, we never stop learning, do we.

You can extend for 30 days at immigration for 1900 baht, after that its a border run and 15 days by land or 30 days by air as stated above

i was under the impression that double entry was that you could leave and re-enter thailand once within the 60 day (or extended 90) day period

A double entry is that you can travel twice to Thailand. Upon each entry you can stay for up to 60 days, but each entry can be extended by 30 days at immigration.

Yopu must enter Thailand during the time that the VISA is valid.

HKT<->KL can be easy one-day with AirAsia. Book well ahead to get lowest fare; several months ago I did the r/t for just about 3000 baht. Note you go to the LCCT terminal in KL, which is a bit of drag. Use the AirAsia kiosk for boarding pass to speed through both airports.

Yes, no problem.

Although Penang will not issue a new TR visa if you have extended the last one.

Yes you can.

Your impression is not quite correct. You can enter Thailand twice within the validity of the visa, and stay for 60 days each time. The 60-day period can be extended before it expires.
