Hi everyone,

this is my first post on the forum. I've recently moved to bangkok for work and my wife and 2 kids aged 7, and 9 will be joining me shortly. I've moved from Canada and am interested in enrolling my kids in an international school and am curious what types of sporting activities are offered in bangkok either at most schools or privately? Being Canadian my kids love ice hockey and both have been playing since they were 5. Are there any hockey leagues for kids in bangkok, either ice hockey or ball hockey at schools during gym class or afterschool? I know there's an adult league for me but any options for my kids? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Jay, and welcome to Bangkok! There are indeed several options for your children in regard to sporting events and leagues. If you are looking for those connected directly to international schools, the two most prominent and reputable are the Bangkok International Schools Activity Conference (BISAC) and the Thailand International Schools Activity Conference (TISAC). (BISAC had a website as well, but it appears to be unavailable right now.) Both organizations include sports such as basketball, football/soccer, swimming, golf, badminton and several others, though the emphasis tends to be on basketball and football. BISAC also includes volleyball and a few other sports that TISAC does not yet include. Options outside the schools can be found here. Ice Planet, The Rink and Sub Zero Ice Skate Club are all located either directly on the BTS or MRT (subway) lines, making them easily accessible.

Finally, if you are actively searching for an international school in which to enroll your children, I welcome you to consider my own--Wells International School--as an option. I provided a brief outline of its merits here, and you'd be very welcome to stop by for a visit. Please let me know if you need any other help.

Best regards, and good hunting!
