Looks like a moth caterpillar - I looked at some Thai moth/butterfly sites a year or so ago when I was brushed in the face by a hairy one. I only recently deleted the guy's email address - I'm sure a good google would find it.

This is the caterpillar of a hawk moth (Sphingidae). I do, however, not know which genus or species it belongs to. In a book on Sphingidae of Thailand, published in 1997, there are 175 different species listed for Thailand, and some more were found in recent years. The caterpillars of many of them are unknown.

yup, moth caterpillar, gorgeous but they will eat some of your plants till there is nothing left. I scoop mine up and throw them in the coconut garden out back.
