Retirement Visa-Hull,

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am preparing everything for a trip to Hull in about 3 weeks time to apply for a retirement visa.(entering Thailand 24/08)

I have a police report that is dated 7th June,I note on the Hull consulate website it says the report must be less than 4 months old so therefore I would be ok.

I just thought I had read somewhere on these forums that the police report should be less than 30 days old on application...

Would appreciate any clarification you can give me on this.

Many Thanks

For a non-O based on retirement no police report is needed. If you want an O-A visa, for which a police and medical check is required, Hull cannot provide this visa and you will need to apply at the embassy in London.

As said Hull do not issue O-A Visas. Only the Embassy in London does.

Hull will issue Non Imm O Visa. No Police Report needed.

But do not confuse that with a long stay retirement visa as it is not the same thing and only provides 90 day stay before an exit of Thailand is required. The O-A from Embassy would allow a one year stay on entry.

If you do not want to use the Embassy O-A visa method a single entry non immigrant O visa would allow entry for 90 days and during the last 30 days application for one year extension of stay for retirement from immigration office using 800k in Thai bank account 2 months or 65k monthly income with Embassy letter or a combination to meet 800k per year. No medical or police report is required for this method.

Sorry to butt in. Maybe this question has been asked many times before but I can't find

I know about the 800k in the bank for 2/3 months method. I would like to know about the combination method.

I now recieve an income of 35k per month how do I work out how much I should leave in a Thai bank along with my pension

I see lots treads saying 65k but 65k x 12 months = 780k not 800k ?

Thanks

fix quote

35k (month) x 12 = 420k + 380k (bank) = 800k requirement.

35k (month) x 12 = 420k + 380k (bank) = 800k requirement.

Many Thanks lopburi

I just got a mental block

Pat :jap:

This is how it works for the combination method:

  800k total amount

- 420k 35k x 12 income

------

380k minimum amount in bank account

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Am I right in thinking I take my proof of my pension to my embassy in my home country

and get a letter from them, then I take this letter and sumit with my application for extension?

Correct.

Hi All,

Its the OP here, just when i think i can understand it i get confused again.

So,to ask,can i just enter Thailand on a 30 day stamp,then 60 day extension,then quickly open a bank account,transfer 800,000 Baht and then apply for a 1 year extension of stay ?

Also as its 800,000 baht method can I apply without embassy letter, police report and health report ?

Many Thanks

You likely can not get on aircraft as 30 day entry requires onward travel proof by airline.

You can not extend 60 days.

Get a single entry non immigrant O visa prior to travel (you can get that from Hull) - that allows a 90 day stay so during first month you get the money transferred and before it ends you make the extension of stay. Simple.

Thanks, thats a great help,I will do that, thanks for clarifying things.

Just wanted to ask,am i ok to get the single entry O visa, and then apply for the extension while I am in BKK,rather than a muti entry visa ?.

I have no reason to exit Thailand within the first 90 days.

Thanks

Yes. Even if your money were not in account long enough (60 days) by the end of the 90 day stay you could easily obtain a new visa locally. But if you use combo or set up account within a few weeks of arrival you will have plenty of time. Just be sure to have your banking arrangements ready in UK to make the transfer (in US you need to sign some general paperwork in person so that you can later make transfers).
