New To Chiang Mai

Can anyone help me find a good language school in Chiang Mai area?

Just been here in Thailand for over a month and am planning on staying longer. Everything is great, but i am having problems with the language barrier! I have a few phrase books, but they are not too helpful. I have been told that you can get a visa for studying Thai, and I have done some research on this site and it seems a good idea for my situation.

I would like to join a class, rather that a private tutor. Can anyone recommend a good school that does the student visas in Chiang Mia? I have searched the web and found a few places that seem good, but i want to be sure before i spend the money!

Thanks guys.

Paul.

Payap it seems has the best program, but I think Walen you will learn faster.

Chiang Mai University has a one year visa program on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. You will learn to read, write, and speak with their program. The cost is 30,000 baht. You can also try Walen, Pro Thai, and a number of others who offer ED visas, and they usually have a class that you can sit in on to see if you like it. Payap's class is 5 mornings a week which could be a little too much to absorb.

Chiang Mai university dump all Ed VISA students last year, cancel ALL visa. Keep money.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I think Pro Language is one of the best schools here in Chiang Mai.

I know people have had problems with other places such at the university. I have been at Pro language for a good few months and am very satisfied with this school. I am also on an ED visa and had to go to renew for a year last week. No problems. The staff and teachers are really helpful and make the visa applications easy for the students.

Check out their website. They are reasonably priced and you can check them out at the school as they do free trial lessons too. They have good teaching material and will see what level of class will suite you the most. I also know that they do group classes too.

Good luck and hope you enjoy your time in Thailand.
