I have no idea what was recommended last time but try this one. The Golden Land, at around 600 baht a night. Find the little bed icon on the map and you have found the hotel. Don't get it confused with the expensive Laluna Hotel and Resort, which is nearby.

Zoom in close on the icon and you will see that Golden Land is north of the Laluna. On the map before zooming in, it appears to be the same place but it isn't.

I don't know anything about Lulana except that I thought it was too expensive when I was looking several years ago. May well be a value with all the amenities offered. I dunno. I'm not an amenity kind of guy. Just need clean, quiet, comfortable, decent and a good price. The Golden Land is all that unless there is something big going on at the old airport. And then, you need to avoid it because it is too close to the loud music. Now, if you're an out of town vendor at an old airport function, then it is ideal because you would be at the old airport until closing anyway and then the loud music is done when you're ready to hit the hay.

There are lots of eating places in that vicinity, by the way. And a few special ones within a five minutes or less drive-time. If you want to check them out, let me know, I'll put them on that map. They are Thai food and exceptional.

If it's not to much of a bother One or two wouldn't go amiss Thank's for your time.

Okay. I'll add a couple to the map in the next day or so and post a new link. There are some other good hotel places in town that have been suggested by others. You may want to check out some of those as well. I can't recall all of them but some folks are really fond of some of the establishments here. I haven't stayed at many here. I'm kind of limited on hotel knowledge. Maybe I'm just limited on knowledge in general. And jubby says, I'm just limited. Anyway, Golden Land is great but others may have some good suggestions.

Okay, here is the map with both suggested restaurants on it. Just click on the names of the restaurants on the left hand column and the map with jump to those locations. Click on satellite view for a bit of perspective.

The closest one to the Golden Land is Vivean House. The other, which I don't know the name of, is a bit further but still, within five minutes. I should know the name, as it is very close to my house but I never pay attention to the name for some reason.

Also, one of these places (Vivean) is on Sven's CR Google map in the pinned section of this forum. There are lots of restaurants on the map and some have comments. Here is the link.

To get to the little beer garden place within walking distance of the hotel, head towards the old airport and keep an eye on the left. The place is before the airport. It is a little Thai restaurant. Dunno about the food. The beer is okay.

Sportsman Inn Hotel or the sister properties all at the T junction road on the north side of the Old Airport all have decent hotels and good parking. From 350-500 baht average for nice room with A/C Cable True UBC TV and decent rooms.

Or the Pimann Inn just around the corner near the Old Airport and Air Force Golf (with Pool, fitness, etc). 600-850 a nite

Up date on trip once again a big thank you to Kanadar. Didnt stay in the hotel you sugested as they serve brekky in the room. Ended up in the Laguna. If anyone want's to know it's not cheap at 2,300 bt for their best room. Good size a 7' bed all the bit's as it should be, staff very good, lovely ground's. Brekky top notch fab coffee start's from 6am. As the good lady wanted to go to the night market till 9pm EEEEEK, didn't have time to try out your restaurant suggestion's. Will do next time "a few week's" I will be on my own. The upshot is we went to the big restaurant that is to the left and across the road of the N/M has a cooking station outside. Sorry dont know the name. But to my surprise the steak a rib eye was VERY good came as ordered. Thai food the G/L told me later they make for Farang's eg not hot enough, sorted with some extra chillie's. Staff there were also nice except one I found out later was the boss's wife, Got no idea how to talk to peep's a real pain in the arse. Better to keep her in the toilet. Once again a big thank you to Kanadar I wouldn't have stayed in the Laguna if he hadn't mentioned it in his post.

Think the OP is referring to the Laluna, not the Laguna (not sure if there is a place by that name in CR).

Spot on Laluna, sorry your first post came a bit late but have put your idea's on my comp: to check out next time.
