Just a quick post to let you know that my wife and twochildren won their appeal an ECO overturned the original decision after I provided more information and explained our situation in greater detail.

One think I would like to say is that it's been a really stressful six months, the process is not easy, but if you stick at it the UKBA will grant the visa if the application is genuine. It just takes time.

Hits for anyone applying for a settlement visa would beprepare for the interview, get training if necessary. Make sure you knoweverything about your partner "and I mean everything" Life style, hobbies, favourite places, importation dates family members.

Original visa application January 2011

Visa Refused March 2011

Appeal Lodged March 2011

Appeal Overturned June 2011

Next week my wife and children collect their visas then theywill be coming to the UK to live with me. J

Congrats on the success.

I think the important part of your post for others is

an ECO overturned the original decision after I provided more information and explained our situation in greater detail.

This shows that it is vital to supply everything with the original application; never assume that they will know something that you don't tell them; they wont.

You don't want to overwhelm the ECO with paperwork; but it's better to supply something they don't need than to miss out something that they do!

And, of course, I think there was no appeal. The refusal decison seems to have been reversed at the ECM review ( details of which have been given several times before ). If this had gone to appeal then it would have been several more months before anything was heard.

It is interesting, however, to see that it took around 3 months for the ECM review to be carried out. The visa section at the British Embassy recently assured me ( and other agents in Pattaya ) that the ECM review was being carried out within 10 days of receiving the appeal. Either we were misinformed, or maybe "pressure of work" is playing it's part. You may remember that I submitted several lengthy complaints to the Embassy concerning the length of time it was taking to carry out these reviews. This led to the above assurance ( the 10 day review period ) which, unfortunately doesn't seem to have lasted very long.
