Gerry Vs Baht Bus Driver- Late Night Scuffle Soi 8

Featured Replies

Late night scuffle in Soi 8 has an interesting outcome.

A case of late-night alcohol-fuelled fighting now from Soi 8 off the Beach Road. We caught the end of the incident on tape and as you can see, the driver of Baht Bus Number 237 is clearly assaulting a German National later identified as Mr. Joachim Becken aged 50 who, according to Police, was intoxicated. Back at the Police Station the reason behind the attack centered on the German man allegedly hitting the front windscreen of the baht bus. Although there were no visible signs of damage, this angered the Baht Bus Driver who decided to show his frustration by attacking the German man. Although our pictures clearly show the Baht Bus Driver assaulting the German man, Police decided to release him with no charge and Mr. Becken was charged with drunkenness in a public place and public order offences and was placed behind bars.

This is news?

What's the big deal?

If the roles were reversed and it was Germany, not Thailand, do you think the outcome would have been any different? Or remove Germany and insert UK, US, Aus, etc., no difference.

PCN usually post the story as soon as they can, then add the pics later.

Some of the pics are not really that enjoyable, did you see that poor baby that was born with the malformed head? poor little guy didn't need his head shown on tv and the internet. :o:D

Tuky is right - as soon as the photos are there I'll post em. Nah didnt look at the photo(s) of the baby - don't plan on it either. :D

I was going to post a picture from Thai TV News - can't remember the channel - of a poor old (50+) teacher who was crushed to death under the wheels of a bus, which turned out to have faulty front brakes. This man was a renowned artist - drew pictures of the royal family for book covers - and was a stamp collector (I think). This poor guy was shown on TV being dragged, dead of course, from under the bus. Why the f*** do they have to show this? Is this how people want to remember him? Sickening.

I agree with you both, the pictures of the poor little boy with the malformed head (ie brain on the outside) and RDN's mangled body (Not RDN) are not what we would call "savoury" viewing. However it is common for Thai tv to show this stuff, what gets me is thast my wife will never travel to Phuket and regions agains due to the tsunami and the ghosts associated with it, yet she is excited to see images of death, mutilation and deformities.

oh well, TIT

yeah no one would have gobe to jail maybe if he was still hammered he would have stayed the night in jail

Sorry but I think this is news.

It seems to me that Baht bus drivers virtually have a mandate from the police to kick the crap out of any drunken falang they want to and get away with it.

Does this not worry you ???

:o:D

If there had been the slightest evidence that the fallang had caused any damage I bet the boys in brown would have "fined" him a fortune.

Shame it doesn't work both ways. :o

Welcome to Pattaya :D

Not hard concept - ring the bell after u pass your street. Then jump out drop the driver 5bht, 10bht if you are generous and move on. :D

Mr. Becken was charged with drunkenness in a public place and public order offences and was placed behind bars.

well he had probably been in front of a bar all night so a while behind a few might do him good.

Yet another foreigner who give's it plenty when he's had a bit of shandy.

More, it is the police (= police members) which directly or indirectly own the baht busses, the whole business.

Do you really think the regular brown boys will piss off someone higher in the hierarchy by not taking side of one of their "other" employees?

Not in Pattaya anyway, where the brown boys hide behind the corners, jumping on falangs which turn left at the traffic lights where it is not allowed to do so (while they are red), knowing exactly that most farangs will not know that at this traffic light it is not allowed. :o

OF COURSE THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN VERYVERY DIFFERENT AS IN THOSE COUNTRIES THE LAW MEANS SOMETHING AND YOU CAN NOT JUST ASSAULT PEOPLE AS YOU PLEASE, NO MATTER IF THEY WERE DRUNK OR NOT.....
