Knowsitlike Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 My Sister and her young boys (ages 12-14) are arriving for Christmas and NY for a stay of approx 3 weeks for perhaps their only chance to see the LOS. My question is simple: where do i take/send them? I am looking for the once-in-a-life-time absolute must do's in Thailand. I want your recommendations on the best of the best of places to visit and things to do for both kids and big kids alike.. Thanks in anticipation, DM
wilko Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Do you live in Thailand yourself, how well do you know Thailand? Where are your rellies coming from? It's difficult to know what sort of info you're after without a little more info...
jackr Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Chiang Mai, Pai, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi and Sukhothai/Si Sachanalai
davethailand Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Hire a boat with skipper and spend a week (at least) doing all the islands/ resorts in Phang Nga, phuket and andaman sea.
bino Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 A trip to Chiang Mai to go on a full day elephant trek / rafting trip is definite kid pleaser. Adults too. There are many elephant camps on the road to Mae Hong Son where they will take you by elephant for about 4 hours up a river / mountain, and then return downstream on a raft. Last time I went was over a year ago, and the cost was reasonable. 600 per elephant (2 people). I've done the trip 3 times in total with visitors, and I love it as much as they do.
Knowsitlike Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 Yes I live in BKK and I know some good things for them to do in the immediate area, however usually I am stuck in the office or working outside of Thailand and I have never had kids to come and stay before. What I am looking for are specific recommendations for activities, destinations and events outside of Bangkok that would be good for my nephews over Christmas and NY. I know the kids will like going to a beach and kicking a footy about but what about things that are unique to Thailand? Elephant riding is a good one and they will enjoy that alot. For more info, the older one loves fishing- any suggestions for some good spots or reputable fishing boat operations? As for the younger one he has started to learn how to box back in the UK and I am sure would find some Muay Thai interesting- are there any suitable introductory courses for kids? (10-14yrs) Thanks for your help,

(10-14yrs)Thanks for your help, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> there ar emany Muay Thai schools in Pattaya.....and on Koh Samui...which could combine scuba, and all sorts of stuff. Sailing on Samui too and Phuket. the lakes above Kanchaburi are beautiful not so much to do except walking, swimming in Lakes and waterfalls - check out Sri Nakarin reservoir...they have house boats you can chug around on...might need 4WD while you're up theretoo.
