Best Option For Border Run?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

[update] I'm based in bangkok [/update]

I have a non-imigrant 'O' visa valid for a year, am coming up to the point where I need to cross the border again.. last time was really easy as my boss needed me in Dubai around that time so booked a flight+hotel, so was very easy to do.

This time I don't have that luxury - so my questions are;

Can you recomend any companies (vip bus or coach or whatever) that take people across the border? all I need is a re-stamp.

I don't mind which border although how safe is the cambodian border at the moment?

Also are there any fee's i would need to pay on the border? I'm hoping not, as I'd be entering the country as a tourist and re-entering thailand on my existing non-imigrant O visa.

Oh and if it makes a difference I'm british

cheers

If you are in Bangkok (you forgot to say) there are a number of firms (also in Pattaya). You can find with a Google and read reviews here if you care to (suspect there is little real difference but people have both good and bad experiences). You must have a visa to enter Cambodia and that does cost. The trips are all inclusive so nothing to pay but the fee of about 2,000 baht and that includes visa/trip/lunch so not really expensive. They also advertise in the Classified sections of English papers.

Hi Joe,

I did a visa run a couple of weeks ago with a company called Quick Thai Visa Run: www.thaivisarun.com.

They were excellent from start to finish, well orgainsed, punctual, efficient and polite. Left Ekkamai at 9.30am on a big coach (not a minivan), arrived at the border by 2pm, left the border at 3pm and back in Bangkok by 7.00pm.

As long as you arrive at the meeting place by 8am - 8.30 am with all the correct documents, photo's, passport etc it is so easy, the staff take care of everything for you, they even hand out toilet tissue to the ladies for the toilet breaks!

P.S.They run both small minibuses as well as large coaches, large coach the better option.

The question is confusing..... Yes you need a photo copy of passport and photo but that is for your Visa to Cambodia, for the new 90 day stamp coming back you do not need..

thaivisaservice, I have used a few times, very good service, never been less then 3 mini buses, tall or big people go in the mini bus with more room. eg: 12 seats, not the 16 seats ones. Never had a problem also 6'3 and 112 kg

Yes. I've done 3 "border runs" from Bangkok with this company.

http://thaivisaservice.com

They leave early in the morning from Tesco/Lotus parking lot near On Nut BTS station (6:30 to 7:00 a.m.)Then 4 hours to the border, 1 hour for you to get stamped out of Thailand, walk acroos a small wooden bridge into Cambodia and get a Canbodian visa, then re-enter Thailand and get a stamp back in to Thailamd and another 90 days on your multi-entry non O visa.

Total travel time from Bangkok is about 9 hours. Two quick stops (both directions) on the way for a toliet break or a quick food snack stop.

All the details including telephone and email contacts are on the web page. Book a space with them by email, so they will know when you want to go.

Travel is by a 15 passenger mini-van. Drivers are good and experienced. Owners are an Italian and his Thai wife.

Go to that website above.

P.S. I forgot to add the cost is 1900 baht...but it tells you that on the website.

You can do it really cheap if you get the casino bus (I got one from BigC LadPrao last year) to PoiPet and do the visa papers yourself when you get there. Get the earliest arrival possible at the border and avoid any offers of "help". Cost? Casino bus is sometimes free if you put a dollar in the slot machine - and the casino will give you a snack lunch free as well. Cambodia visa is $20US in US bills. It is more if you pay in baht.
