Rowing

Featured Replies

Who knows a rowing club in or near Bangkok. I moved to BKK a while ago and would like to row. So far the only possibility I found is near Pattaya a bit far

As far as I know Pattaya's Mabprachan Reservoir is the only venue, but you could try contacting the Thailand Rowing and Canoeing Association:

Room 227 Rajamangala National Stadium, Bangkok 10240

Membership costs 40 baht per year nothing else to pay.

I contacted the Thailand Rowing and Canoeing Association a couple times, but so far they haven't been much of a help that's why I start here. I'm surprised that a country like this has such a few possibilities for rowing. I should think that BKK with all the expats should have a club.

I've been rowing in Asia for 30 years (out of Hong Kong) and Thailand's always been the odd man out. Most of the clubs in east, southeast and south Asia were established during the colonial era and of course Thailand famously escaped that. Even that national team rowing program on the reservoir is a relatively recent introduction, to allow Thailand to compete in the Asian Games and other regional competitions.

Lets open our own club and get the ball rolling, or the boat rowing.....I am up for it.

Sounds good to me, maybe we have to sit around the table with the TRCA. With the number of expats and residents in BKK it must be possible.

Did you meet together with TRCA? I am interested to do it. In Poland I have owwn boat and I am training evryday (3 month per year). Here I can not do it anything because there is not so many clubs. Maybe we can join with thai people and start developing rowing in Thailand.

My number of phone is: 0865482955
