On the transfer form after filling in the passport details it then asks for the reason! Anyone have any advise/suggestions other than 'needed for future extensions' ?

It is more like: passport full, expired or lost.

New Passport would be the reason if you have old. Replacement for lost passport if you do not. The only thing they can transfer is your current permitted to stay stamp/extension of stay. They also make a note of entry visa but the visa is not transferred.

What about the "Multiple Re-Entry Permit? Will it be also transfered to the new passport?
