Firstly I gave the lady a copy of the official web site.. BOGUS I knew and WRONG she claimed... There are so many senerios that one has to look at the deal.

Me I was 5 for new 5 but no WP.

The safety vid is ok prep for exam but I will tell you that there is no place about dringing in reverse, side car bikes, and motorbikes in general as to traffic.

Had all my stuff in at 9am and out at 1130. Would it be better to get that at 8am and wait.. I was in the second group for the morning and some group 1st guys were still waiting for pic/dl etc.

Staff is great.

All ques shut at 11 and the staff goes to pic/dl que. They said no leftover for lunch is yhou get into the PIC/DL que.

Lots of other ques etc. Beinjg truthful the olny failures for the reaction. color or writtne exam seem to be Farang women over 50ish.. Not my target!

I'm not a doctor, but I thought colour blindness is genetic. You are born with it and it doesn't develop later in life. You would think one test is enough, but hey, TIT.

If you renew your 1 year the day after the one year expires then you will be issued a 5 year. The colour blindness and computer reaction tests are taken before the video. I'm not so sure (???) you have take these tests and watch the video when going from 1 year to 5 year licence, depends on the mood of the day , for sure when applying each 5 years. So expect colour blindness (& reaction) tests every 5 years.

Was never given a computer test. The color blindness test is a set of laminated pages and you just go through them reading the numbers you think you see.

At 10 sharp,the video is for falangs only.

When I obtained the license one a had to be there at 7 30 sharp, ( and not wear shorts or sleeveless tops.. )

What's the procedure now? Med Certif? Or no Med Certif?

Gov offices don't open until 08.30. Really no need to be there until 09.00 as video presentation starts 10.00. I have managed to obtain the residency paper from imm and still be on time for the vehicle licence morning processing.

I would say no medical certificate required, but as usual depends on the mood of the day ...

just learned today Phuket imigration has gone back to an application form and a certificate issued as a computer document with attached/stamped picture. In 0900 out 1030.

DLT as of today do not accept copies any more, original certificate only, one for each transaction/transfer/licence.

Mmm Maybe different now but I remember, ( this was 2006 ) it was VERY early as I missed it the first day and then the next day left my house at 6 : 30 AM to get there in time . This was to get the initial auto driver's license and you have to queue before a certain time, then cut off for the day.

That's an interesting question. In the past I have had a copy of my residency paper endorsed by the Transport office by showing them the original certificate. I wanted to keep my original paper to transfer a vehicle to my name later in the week. Seemed to be no problem, but that was a few years ago.

for vehicle registration DLT is back to accepting original only, with attached stamped photo.

for DL, I dont know how it is today or tomorrow

but I have always handed 200 baht to immigration officer when issuing cert, one or four, so I guess I will continue this

Yes I hade to look at the safety video and not sure as to the computer test. I did color and reaction!

OK just did this on also. Submitted the app form (I think there was a form cause there is always a form), picture and 300 Baht. they neede a "official copy of my rentall agreement" a copy witgh a stamy from where I live. 10 min. and I was headed back to LT offit!

Sorry there is TMI but that is the case..For all others the question on the computer test is a troolarama.. there was no computer test but the old long standing reaction test.. The lights for and you move from gas to break.. Be supprised on how many missed out. The old depth perception ione where you had to alighn the two sticks was no present in the room. YES. all had to see a swaety video.. The missed point as to only fraang is that only farang in the room iwth the engrit tape and thai in the room with the thai tape. Kinda of a no brainer etc. but some are overwhelmed
