Pattaya Police Officers Injured in High-Speed Motorcycle Chase

The incident occurred at sunset on May 5, along Soi Nern Plub Wan. Officers from Nong Prue Police Station, Sergeant Thanakorn Chanakijpitakkul and Senior Sgt. Buranin Phonimitsakul, attempted to stop a motorbike attracting attention with its loud exhaust and missing licence plate. However, during the pursuit, their vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries to both officers and the civilian motorcyclist. All three were swiftly transported to Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital for urgent medical care. Colonel Natthaphon Phongsuksakul, superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, later visited them, providing financial support and acknowledging their commitment to public safety. “This is a reminder of the risks our officers face every day to keep our roads safe. We will continue to crack down on illegal street racing and modified vehicles that endanger lives,” Colonel Natthaphon stated, reaffirming the crackdown on unauthorised vehicle modifications. The event has intensified discussions around the ongoing problem of illegally modified motorcycles in Pattaya, as residents express frustration over loud exhausts and reckless behaviour, especially in popular tourist spots and residential districts. Local law enforcement officials have pledged to strengthen enforcement measures, focusing on unlicensed and modified vehicles, as well as high-risk pursuits that often threaten public safety. Efforts to locate the fleeing suspect continue, with police examining CCTV footage to aid in tracking him down. This situation highlights how quickly a single act of recklessness can spiral into chaos, resulting in significant injury and danger to public safety. Interesting points, @RSD1 ! -- I have a couple of questions: 1/ You say you convert the foreign currency in your WISE balance to Thai baht. Then you say that the card transactions are made from your Thai Baht balance, avoiding conversion fees on individual transactions. I understand the reasoning for making the conversion to THB when the exchange rate is favorable. However, are you saving anything on conversion fees by converting a large balance vs converting small sums as you go, for each individual transaction? 2/ It implies that if you have a WISE balance in THB, and you make any card charges and/or withdrawals in THB, they will be automatically covered from your THB balance. Is that a correct assumption? Thanks! -
