Crime Domestic Murder: Man Guns Down Wife in Cold Blood Following Argument

A 56-year-old man is on the run after allegedly shooting his wife nine times at close range during a violent domestic dispute, killing her instantly at their home in Chulabhorn District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The incident occurred at around 11:30 on 9 July, when local police at Chulabhorn Police Station were alerted to a fatal shooting at a residence in Village 4, Sam Tambon Subdistrict. Police, forensic officers, and volunteers from the Tai Tek Tung Rescue Foundation quickly responded to the scene. At the rear of the house, officers discovered the lifeless body of 61-year-old Mrs. Juree lying face down in a pool of blood. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head from a 9mm handgun, with the bullet wounds causing severe cranial trauma. Nine spent 9mm shell casings were recovered around the scene and collected as evidence. Initial investigations revealed that the suspected gunman was the victim’s husband, Mr. Chatree, aged 56. The couple reportedly worked as rubber tappers and had a history of frequent arguments. On the morning of the incident, a quarrel escalated into deadly violence when Mr. Chatree drew a firearm and pursued his wife before shooting her repeatedly. He then fled the scene on a motorcycle and is believed to have headed into the nearby hills. According to Pol. Col. Thanapon Yaowapak, Superintendent of Chulabhorn Police Station, Mr. Chatree had been suffering from long-term depression and had previously received treatment at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok. However, he reportedly discontinued follow-up care. It is believed that a mental health relapse may have triggered the outburst of violence. Authorities have launched an urgent manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspect. The police have appealed to the public for any information that might assist in tracking down Mr. Chatree, who now faces charges of murder and illegal possession and use of a firearm.
