BANGKOK, Aug 9 - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday said the new cabinet lineup has been submitted to the Office of His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary via the Cabinet secretary-general pending royal endorsement.

Speaking to reporters at Pheu Thai Party headquarters one day after being royally endorsed as the country's first female prime minister, Ms Yingluck has not disclosed names of her cabinet, saying only that the new foreign minister is a party member with well-rounded knowledge of foreign affairs.

"It was quite a difficult decision but I have thoroughly considered (the cabinet lineup) with party executives," she said.

The businesswoman-turned-premier declined to answer whether any core leader of the Red Shirt (United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, UDD) movement has been given a ministerial post, saying that the new cabinet will be announced in a few days.

"I'm confident and satisfied with the cabinet lineup after putting my best efforts on it. We should give them a chance to work before judging their performance," Ms Yingluck stated.

"I can assure you that my brother Thaksin did not have a say in selecting any cabinet member," she said, referring to the fugitive ousted prime minister Thaksin who now living in self-exile mainly in Dubai.

The prime minister said she would herself supervise the economic team and speed up the response to resolve the country's pressing problems.

The prime minister has not yet announced the timing for delivering her policy statement to Parliament.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranond said he will not call a new house sitting until the new government delivers its policy statement before Parliament. Normally it must do so within the 15-day time frame following the new cabinet swearing an oath of allegiance to His Majesty the King. (MCOT online news)

New PM Submits Cabinet Line-up to be Endorsed by HM King

The list of cabinet members under Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's administration is being reviewed by the Secretariat of the Cabinet.

It is expected to be submitted for royal endorsement within the next few days.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said she has forwarded her Cabinet list to the Secretariat of the Cabinet for review.

The list is expected to be submitted to His Majesty the King for royal endorsement in a few days.

She noted that there will be two or three deputy prime ministers in the 35-member Cabinet, but she would not disclose whether red-shirt leaders are on the list or not.

The first female Thai PM said she might not take the helm of the economic team as she intends to have her deputies take charge in specific areas.

Yingluck insists she will oversee all matters from a distance.

She acknowledged that the most urgent task for her government is to address the current economic problems.

Meanwhile, Yingluck reiterated that her older brother Thaksin did not interfere in the selection of her Cabinet members.

She clarified that certain MPs were not listed not because they lack qualifications, but simply because she chose the most suitable people for her Cabinet line-up.

Red shirt supporter Apinun Wiriyachai has revealed he called former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and declined to take a Cabinet post. Apinun was the only red shirt supporter reportedly slated for a ministerial position in the Yingluck Cabinet. He said he told Thaksin that he preferred to stay a Member of Parliament and had declined the appointment.

The Cabinet line-up of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is already forwarded to HM's Principal Private Secretary Office for royal endorsement, Ampon Kittiampon, chief of Cabinet Secretariat said Tuesday.

Meanwhile Yingluck told reporters that there are be two or three persons who would hold concurrent positions in her cabinet.

Yingluck became the 28 prime minister and the first female premier of Thailand after being granted royal endorsement on Monday. Her Pheu Thai party became the core in the five-party coalition government after winning over Democrat party in the July election.

She also dismissed earlier reports that her foreign minister would be a former ambassador, saying the position would be hold by an insider of Pheu Thai party. She declined to reveal the name but said the minister certainly has experiences and capabilities of international relations.

"Please wait for a couple of days and I will tell you about the cabinet line-up," she told reporters.

However she declined to say whether her cabinet will include red shirt leaders and members.

Red shirts protesters who supported her brother; fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra, had played great role in helping Pheu Thai win the election. Some red leaders were elected, including Weng Tohjirakan, Nuttawut Saikua and Jatuporn Prompan.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra offered Pheu Thai MP Apiwan Wiriyachai to be her deputy overseeing security affairs in her cabinet

Pheu Thai MP Col Apiwan Wiriyachai on Tuesday said he has refused an offer from Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to be a deputy premier overseeing security affairs and defense ministry.

Apiwan said he has no capability to take the position.

Apiwan is known for his outspokenness and extreme support for Yingluck's brother; convicted ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra.

During the political chaos and violence in April and May, Apiwan, then deputy House Speaker, took the stage of the red shirt protesters many times to condemn Abhisit government.

Apiwan was earlier tipped to be Education minister in the Yingluck government. He told reporters that he informed Yingluck recently that he did not want to take any cabinet position after learning that the position will go to Worrarat Eua-apinyakul.
