Just got an ipad2. I have an apple imac. when I connect to my apple mac with the usb cable my ipad says "not charging" I thought connecting to a mac will charge it?

Should. Maybe wrong cable? Bad USB?

cable seems to work for downloading etc on itunes just changed cables and it still says not charging

edit. found it . wont charge on a usb hub since it wont supply enough power for some reason, plugging into the back of my mac did it

That's what I was going to say. It won't charge through a USB hub... But you figured it out. And by the way don't use a USB hub to connect and external hard drive either. It will work, but really sloowly. USB hubs seem to be only good for a mouse, keyboard or printer.

That's what I was going to say. It won't charge through a USB hub... But you figured it out. And by the way don't use a USB hub to connect and external hard drive either. It will work, but really sloowly. USB hubs seem to be only good for a mouse, keyboard or printer.

True for non-powered hubs...with a powered hub, should be no problem.
