Moneylender and illegal lottery vendor’s shop raided in south Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- Acting on a tipoff and armed with a court warrant, police from Chonburi raided a three-storey shophouse in South Pattaya on Tuesday afternoon. They were searching for information regarding an illegal money-lending and illegal lottery operation. Although the main target of the operation, a Thai male, was able to evade capture because he wasn’t in the shophouse at the time, officers were able to detain his 26-year-old wife. The arrested woman runs a shop selling clothes and fashion accessories on the street front while her husband ran the illegal money-lending and lottery operation from his third-floor office. Three other people were arrested at the shophouse. A large amount of paperwork detailing names and addresses was seized.
