Paperwork On Arrival

Featured Replies

Do I need to declare currency on arrival. The limit used to equivalent of US$20,ooo I believe

Do I need the document at a bank or if I choose to send or take it back out of Thailand once year visa granted.

Also where is best rate in Bangkok I see Superrich and Thanchart are far superior to SCB at airport for larger amounts

Thanks in anticipation

Over 10k is supposed to be declared, not only on arrival into Bangkok but I believe on departure from origin also, failure to do so may result in the money being confiscated if it is discovered.

Personally I think its crazy to carry that amount of cash, why not open a Thai bank account and tranfer it in, you are probably going to need the money sat in a Thai account for atleast 60 days prior to any application for visa anyway (dependant on visa extension type) so why not take the safe route and avoid any potential problems.

If you plan to only season the money for an extension of stay and then send it back to your own country a banktransfer is highly recommended, as you can proof the origin of the money.

If you take the money cash in, you just have to declare it (your own country might have the same requirement for taking it out).
