Condominiums Report Renter?

Featured Replies

When checking into a hotel, they report The registered guests to the government.

Do condominiums do the same?

I think it's the same as renting a house. You have to do it by yourself.

The condo I work at never registers anything with the police and I have never heard of that

Ah, maybe I misunderstood the question. OP don't want it to be reported to the government.

In regard to foreigners renting, the landlord is legally required to obtain copies of appropriate passport pages and submit to Thai immigration.

There's notices up in my condo building saying you should report yourself at Immigration and if you fail to do so you can be fined 2,000 Baht (by immigration, not the condo)

So it sounds compulsory.

Yes, the owner is required to report any "alien"crazy.gif within 24 hours with immigration. There is a form to do so. Very seldom enforced but if it is, the owner/landlord is subject to the fine...not the alien.crazy.gif

There is no cost for the owner to register the aliencrazy.gif

But... the way that it normally works, like anything else, the aliencrazy.gif will be asked to pay the fine.

( my landlord had no clue about this when I lived in Chiang Mai and we eventually convinced her to register us, which took all of 10 minutes.)

Hotels, guest houses and other rentals only report if they want to pay taxes.

Many like to keep it off the the books, part of the huge underground economy.

If you stay in a private home they are supposed to report you.

In the condo I lived in in CM the immigration came periodically and got a list of everyone staying there from the manager...occasionaly she had to ask for copies of PP although it was still the responsibility of the owner of the condo to register withn 24 hrs of the renter moving in.
