Visa Extension Or New Visa?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I don't have any problem, but I'm just wondering what is best to do... maybe someone had the similar experience.

I have a 1 year non-B multiple entry visa that will expire in 2 months. I also have a WP which will expire next month, but will be renew soon.

Is it better to get an extension or to get a new 1 year visa?

Does it give me advantage to have an extension (for a future PR for example or anything) instead of a new visa?

Getting the visa is very easy and fast in France, just by showing the WP. Don't know about the extension here.

Another question, is it possible to get an extension from an embassy outside TH instead of immigration here? Will have to be away for a month so...

Many thx.

Remi

You would only get an "Extension of Stay" in Thailand, and you need to know if your company qualifies or not. One advantage is not having to exit Thailand every 90 days.

Also, if you exit Thailand and re-enter just before the visa expiraion date, you will admitted for another 90 day stay. If you are satisfied with you current situation, just apply for a new visa.

Six of one - half dozen of another situation. If PR a concern you must use extensions of stay.

Visa - one time 5,000 baht fee and cost of exit every 90 days. Need to obtain outside Thailand.

Extension - 1,900 baht fee (plus 1k per trip or 3,800 multi for travel). Cost of documentation. Cost of making 90 day address reports if no travel.
