This year the highly anticipated Hua Hin Jazz Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary, and will be held on August 26 and Saturday 27 on the beach in Hua Hin.

This auspicious event is certainly not to be missed for jazz and music lovers of all types, and has become one of Hua Hin's major entertainment highlights each year, attracting esteemed musicians and thousands of visitors from all over Thailand and abroad.

In past years the festival has been proven to be a resounding cultural and commercial success. This year should be no exception, and local residents and weekend visitors are expected here in abundance.

Hua Hin will be buzzing this weekend, as it becomes nicknamed "Jazz Town" again for a few days of music, festivities and fun.

Ten Years of Jazz

Every year the Hua Hin Jazz Festival grows in popularity, and seems to attract ever-increasing visitor numbers to the town for the duration of the two day event. What started out as a relatively small festival has now become the biggest jazz event in Thailand.

In previous years, there has been an eclectic mix of international and local musicians with some talented names in the jazz world making an appearance, such as Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Haslip, Kenny Garrett, and Dave Weckl.

The audience is normally treated to several different styles of jazz music and related genres; even reggae, ska, funk soul and R&B acts have played to the thrilled crowds. There is certainly enough musical diversity on show to satisfy most tastes, even if jazz is not normally your thing.

Music on the Beach

The location of the main stage is down on Hua Hin beach just outside the Sofitel Centara Hotel, where spectators will be able to watch from chairs and beach mats. As usual, attendance is completely free for everybody.

The beachside setting allows the music to be enjoyed in a natural open air environment, and adds to the sense of a carnival atmosphere. There are also many other nearby activities, food stalls, souvenirs, games and shops.

Bands and Schedule

The music kicks off at 5 p.m. on both days, and will feature luminaries such as the Japanese duo Orange Pekoe, the renowned American singer-songwriter Kina Grannis, and Thailand's first fusion jazz band Infinity making a welcome return.

Other notable bands in this year's lineup include well known Thai artist Jirapan Ansvananda, Ford and Friends, P.O.P., Ganesha and Meaw Jirasak.

The music continues until around midnight, and there are plenty of additional activities to keep the crowds occupied before and afterwards. The full list of performers is as follows.
