Post Office Pattaya / Send Smallish Package

Recommended Posts

i actually did a search, and read many OLD threads

the info is not very up to date, sooooooooooooooo

- what is the diff between a real post office and these PO shops around town?

in terms of cost and services

- location and hours of PO in pattaya, would that be soi 13/2 open until 8pm?

what days are they open?

- best, safest and most economical way to send a package to the states.

i have got some small patintings that cost about 3000 baht, 3-4 kilos, to go to new york, medium small package

how about the post service on soi boi cow near the market closest to pat klang, with PO boxes and three baht copies?

what exactly is EMS. a private postal delivery like fedex and dhl?

how does that work, cost and location?

anything else to add?

please advise

thanks in advance

Just go to the Post Office proper. It is reliable and it is open every day. Don't forget to attach a customs sticker on the parcel if you don't want it to be delayed.

If you are in no hurry, you can ship it, rather than use Airmail.

Prices here

Inexpensive to add insurance and for it to be registered. Recommended.

As far as I know the "postal service" shops around town just act as an agent for the Post Office, and presumably charge a fee on top.

If you dont fancy the Post Office then just use DHL or Fedex. They have websites that will indicate the cost. Or indeed you could just go in and ask them though that doesnt seem to be the OP's strong point.

Post Office is open every day, as in every day, ie every day. It even says it in big letters on the front door.

Is it really that big a deal to walk down Soi 13 and check it out?

Are you writing that only two of them were registered and those were the two that arrived at their destination?

If not, you seem unlucky. I have sent many more than that from Soi prai-sà-nĭi and none have gone missing. Though I always spend the small extra amount on registration. 55 baht I think.

The safest way to send your pictures is with Fedex or DHL. They have an office on 2nd road in TIP Plaza just past KISS Restruant. It's on the left.

They also have packaging.

How would you know? Have you sent them registered with Thailand Post/EMS before?

I thought I put it clear but if I didn't 7 bit's were posted, two were registered they arrived the 5 not registered didn't. You said all your's arrived but you did register them. That's maybe why you didn't have a problem.

I did see once that the peep's behind the counter was taking letter's calculating how much putting the stamp's on top of them, and then dealing with the next customer they did the same again with their one's. Now I'm not saying that they didn't put them on later a send them off, but I thought at the time now that could be a good scam for a bit of extra cash. Na just my evil mind, TIT that would never happen here.
