90 Day Reporting On Multiple Entry Ed Visa

Featured Replies

I arrived in Thailand in June. I was able to get a 1 year multiple entry non-immigrant ED visa at the LA Thai consulate for a brief internship I did here from July-August. But now I want to remain in Thailand for at least a few more months. Originally, my plan was to simply do a border run before my 90 days ran out. But now, in the interest of saving money, I'd prefer to try the 90 day reporting option. Is this possible even though I'm not registered with a school here or currently interning? What sort of documents will I be asked to provide? Thanks for the help.

There is no such 'option'. If here on visa entry you must exit return to get a new visa entry when you do not qualify for extension of stay.

So if someone pays extra for a multiple entry ED visa they lose the advantage to do a 90 day report, and are forced to do border runs?

There is no extra payment. Visa cost is 5,000 baht for one year validity (up to 15 months stay) and covers any travel/return. Extension of stay is 1,900 baht each time (and for language study what would be every 3 months at most locations) and any travel will cost 1,000 baht for re-entry permit and without study such extensions would not be available.

I see. Thanks for the help.

Any idea if my visa is at risk of being canceled since I am technically "out of status"?

Your visa is still valid, for an unlimited number of entries of up to 90 days during the time the visa itself is valid. Each time you enetr Thailand before the visa expires you can stay for up to 90 days.

Only an extension of stay would become invalid if the reason for the extension is no longer there. You don't appear to have an extension of stay, but a valid multiple Ed-visa.

Ok, that makes sense. Thank you both for the help!
