I currently have a one year Retirement Visa but not enough funds.

I have legal single custody of my son, born in Thailand. Can I switch from retirement to thai child visa (as the requirements for that visa are 400,000Baht in Thai bank account).

Please advise.

By my reasoning you should be OK.

Only one way to be sure, go and ask them. They do not bite.

You do know that retiremetn also has an option for showing a combination of income and money in the bank in Thailand?

If your yearly income (can be from abroad) plus your money in the bak in Thailand equals at least 800,000 you can also get an extension of stay based on retirement.

if the child is under 7 it may involve a court visit or at least it did in my case as i had to go for joint custody before applying as we were not married, and a letter from the judge was needed to say we all lived together and i was the father, 2 months to get into court other than that no problem
