The price of gravel is surprisingly low, around 60 bht a ton in our area. What costs is the delivery. We know a local guy who will pick up about an 8 ton load and charge 400 bht so about 900 bht altogether. As a rough guide we needed 6 loads for a driveway about 50 metres long and about 3 metres wide.

What exactly are you aiming to do? Just dumping gravel onto muddy ground simply leads to lumpy mud :(

If you want to stabilise the surface (maybe for vehicle or foot traffic) you need to remove the mud / mud forming soil down to a reasonable surface and then add gravel (or laterite if you want something solid for vehicles).
