Former Royal Marine In Coma After Phuket Accident

Steve Thomas remains in a coma after being involved in a motorcycle accident last week. The father of two had been on Phuket for three weeks studying muay Thai when the accident occured.

Steven ‘Tommo’ Thomas, 39, has had surgery to fix a broken jaw and cheekbone, but is still unconscious as doctors try to remove fluid from his brain. He remains in ICU at Bangkok Hospital Phuket, with doctors keeping tight-lipped about his condition and recovery prospects.

The father-of-two had been on the island just three weeks studying muay Thai when he was involved in the accident, not far from Wat Chalong. The exact details of the crash are unclear.

Mr Thomas’ insurance company has said it will not fund his treatment, leaving his family to cover the costs.
