Hi all - I'm on a Non Imm-B 1 year visa and married to a Thai national - could I get a 60 day extension and then apply for another 1 year extension after the 60 days is up?

As I understand it I don't need to show 400,000 in the bank to apply for a 60 day extension correct?

Cheers

Yes if you meet the criteria.

But be warned that in some regions you will have a problem renewing a Work Permit//getting one issued during the 60 day validity period of this type of extension (Police Order 777/2551 Case 2.24), as some regional Labour Departments do not always accept it as a valid basis for WP issue.

Thanks digitalchromakey - that's good news, you never know how flexible immigration will be with this stuff.

Has anyone out there had a problem getting their Work Permit renewed in Chiang Mai city while on one of these 60 day extensions?

Any info on this would be a major help - cheers all.

Why don't you ask those questions at the imm office you'll be using?

I'm under the impression that you won't be able to get an extension for a Non B while on the 60 day extension for wife/family.

You would, however, be able to get a one year extension for being married to a Thai. That would require either the 400k in the bank for a couple of months, or a 40k monthly income.

I believe the 60 days is an extension of stay on the current non-B. There should be no problem ingetting a new extension of stay based on employment or Thai family at the end of the 60 days.

Thanks all - yes I'll be asking out at immigration before going ahead certainly - wanted to get some feedback here before doing so.
