One of my friend is leaving thailand to get tourist visa at Kotabaru Malaysia.

He had 1 TV from Thai embassy in Tokyo.

I know that he now needs Airplane ticket to get TV but Is it really necessary?

Is it possible to get single entry TV at Kohtabarru Malaysia with out airplane ticket?

Hello.

living in Thailand for now 10 years with TV, nobody knows. I have currently 3 back to back TV in my passport and my last TV was issued in Phnom Phen on August the 10 this year. Today I went to Chiangmai Immigration for the first extention of my first stint. Having a casual conversation with the immigration officer his reply was on having multiple TV, 2 is the rule, having more is a problem. Your friend might be ok having only 1 in the passport but I know of many having 10 and more. I guess many as well as I are currently completly unsure of the situation but the history told me a lessen, it will always go on somehow. 6-7 years ago a rumor went on about that one with a tourist visa after 6 month have to leave Thailand for at least another 6 month before beeing allowed to come back here. I have seen a lot of farangs panicking and looking for alternatives, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia. It turned out all the panik was pointless, all went on as usual. Now there is panik about return/onward flight, hotel accomodation and so on. I am next in about feb next year to make a new visa and I think the next will be an ED visa. The problem for Thai embassies and immigration is that plenty of farangs have enough flexibility to go along with visa changes and it looks like this will remain. I am stockpiling all my savings to be in the position to make a retirement visa also but my problem is that when Thailand is opting me out for visa reasons I might opting out Thailand and change my place of living mayby to Cambodia or Malaysia or Indonesia. Who wants to refuse me if I only live in Thailand for about 5 to 6 month a year and the rest elsewhere? I came here with a one way ticket and about 30 kg of luggadge 10 years ago, who wants me to stop leaving this country with the same amount of luggadge? I know the word luggadge is misspelled but I am to lasy to look up my dictionary and anyone flaming me for that has to do this in german language please. But comming back to the facts, anyone planning a long time commitment to Thailand has to keep in mind that the rules are changed all the times and all one can own here is mayby the LUGGADGE one wants to take out of the countrry. But I still love Thailand and would appreciate any comments of people coming back from a visa runs to post them here. If there is an onward ticket required for a visa just book it in Phnom Phen or Vientiane ok, but if this is already a problem you might be in the wrong country.

Cheers

Wolfgang

Usually spell checker fixes that kind of stuff. Your words are very wise though almost seems a-much-ado-about-nothing. Most people who stay long term on TV has a reason They love Thailand or they love someone in Thailand.

to the OP -- as far as I know that is an airline requirement - not visa application requirement -- but I could be wrong ;)

It appears that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently encouraged the Thai consulates in the region to require a ticket out of Thailand with applications for tourist visas. See this topic:
