Arisman, Darunee to surrender

The Nation

A lawyer for Arisman Pongruangrong has said the fugitive red-shirt leader will turn himself in some time in October, Department of Special Investigation director-general Tarit Pengdith said yesterday.

He said the DSI would inform Arisman of its charges, then he would be transferred to the lawyer's care as the DSI had already completed its report on terrorism cases.

A DSI source said its officers could not go out and arrest five fugitives still fleeing terrorism cases. The court would not issue arrest warrants for them as the cases had already been sent to the attorney-general.

Meanwhile, red-shirt lawyer Karom Poltaklang said another fugitive, Darunee Kritboonyalai, was scheduled to return to Thailand on Sunday.

She would turn herself in to Lumpini police station in Bangkok next week. Karom said Darunee's decision resulted from the country beginning to return to normal.

The proposals of the National Truth for Reconciliation Committee are positive signs, he said.

Darunee Kritboonyalai to turn herself in

BANGKOK 3 October, 2011 (NNT) - Darunee Kritboonyalai, one of the most wanted core members of United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) has returned to Thailand to face charges.

According to UDD lawyer Karom Poltaklang, Ms. Darunee will hear the charges at Lumphini police station on October 4. Mr. Karom insisted that police only issued a summons to the UDD core member, not an arrest warrant.

Fugitive Darunee, meanwhile, denied having fled to Cambodia. However, she refused to disclose where she had escaped. After having heard the charges, Durunee has planned to hold a press conference.

She will then help the government solve flood problems.

The UDD core member also insisted that she did not know where her UDD fellow Arisman Pongruangrong was and when he would turn himself in.

The Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdit said Durunee would not face terrorism charges but would be charged for violating the emergency decree. DSI will not be involved in Darunee’s case.

Fugitive Red-shirt Member to Report to Police Today

A fugitive red-shirt group member who is wanted on terrorism charges has re-entered the country and will report herself to police and acknowledge the charges today.

Fugitive red-shirt leader, Darunee Kritboonyalai, who is wanted on terrorism charges, showed up at the Aranya Prathet border crossing in Sa Kaeo Province.

She was welcomed by the red-shirt group's lawyer Karom Polthaklang.

Darunee was asked to pay a fine for illegally leaving the country, as there was no record of an arrest warrant against her, but there was a summons order issued by the Lumpini Police Station.

Instead of facing terrorism charges, the red-shirt leader has been accused of violating the State of Emergency Act for her role during the massive red-shirt rally at Ratchaprasong Intersection last year.

She had been in hiding at an undisclosed location before she showed up at the friendly football match between Pheu Thai MPs, red-shirt leaders and Cambodian officials, along with fellow red-shirt leader Arisman Pongruangrong.

Darunee will report herself to police at the Lumpini Police Station today.

Clearly Arisaman etc have cases to answer. Hopefully it will all be done in a fair open manner. Hopefully too the investigation will move on to the excesses committed by the other side too, which will also be carried out in a an even handed way. To date that area has been completely overlooked with investigation of only side

Jakapop Penkair????? Really???

The speed at which the red shirts dropped Da Torpedo....and then threw Jakapop under the wheels of a moving truck...and now they think he can come back??

Unbelieveable Thailand.

At least this way there could be some comparison as to who the biggest ego in Thailand as...with Jakapop abroad, poor old Jatuporn has been all on his own.

It seems there is big demonstration at the Crime Suppression building at Ratchayothin

It was explained to me that a lady who questioned why Darunee had made some disparaging comments on red shirt stage about HM had been reported by Darunee to the police who arrested her.

Apparently around 1000 multi coloured shirts turned up and the few red shirts present were taken into safe custody.

Anyone else hear this?
