I know that exposed brick can cause a lot of dust as the bricks decay or are touched, but was curious if any of you have them and what did you seal them with? I've seen a handful of walls that are glossy, clearly sealed with something, but can't find an answer on if general stone sealer will work or is there something else.

Also, any other issues with exposed brick walls here in Thailand? This will be a wall put up on top of an existing wall, no exposure to outside. It's purely for decoration.

Brush on PVA (polyvinyleacetate) or a proprietory rubber latex glue - ask for "gao laytek" at, for example, HomePro. This will prevent the dust without leaving a visible sheen. Use diluted with water. 1 to 4 water. Flood the surface but don't allow the solution to "run". It will dry very quickly, and one coat is enough. Job done!! Cheap, easy, effective.

As an aside, the same technique used on bare plaster or plasterboard will seal the surface reducing the number of paint coats to obtain a good finish.

Pre sealed is not available or even possible IMHO . As otherwise the cement would not stick the blocks together also .

Homepro and similars , have stone coats and stone sealers . The sealers prevent anything entering the blocks , the sealer puts on a shiny coat. Works very well , as i used it myself in the bathroom on sandstone and slate .

The sealers from TOA and others come in matt as well as a gloss type finish. We just did a big area in matt and I guarantee you can't see where the sealer was applied. We used a TOA product (213, I think)
