Soy

Featured Replies

It would make sense that they grew it but I heard that nowhere grows soy in Thailand and it is all imported....is that true?

I thought soy originally came from South East Asia..?

I thought is was originally from Asia as well. When I look at Southern Ontario most of not all of the tobacco farms have been growing soya beans for years and they say it is exported back to Asia. The new trend is ginseng, Korean bus loads stop at the road side stalls and buy it.

If it can support a farmer in the west not sure why it isn't grown in Asia, perhaps since 85% is used for vegetable oil maybe the market isn't keen.

My house here in Northern Thailand is surrounded by soy fields currently being harvested so I can report with confidence that not all soy, if any at all, is imported.
