I'm a British Citizen living in France with my (Thai) wife.

We have been to the UK before on a EEA Family Permit, which though it is free, costs a lot of money (travel to Paris, Hotel, delivery charges etc etc) and time. As we are going back once a year on holiday to visit family / friends I am looking for different options for my wife to travel to the UK with me for holidays without having to reapply every year.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

The only other option is a UK visit visa. She would still have to travel to Paris to apply, and pay a fee for the visa.

Although she could only spend a maximum of 6 months in the UK on any one visit, she could apply for a long term one; up to 10 years, which would save a trip to Paris every time. The longer the term, the higher the fee. Be warned; if she is issued a shorter term than asked for there will be no refund of the difference in fees.

See UKBA in France for more.

I stand to be corrected, but I think that once she has lived in France long enough to obtain a permanent residence permit (or whatever the French call it) that she can then travel to any and all EEA states without a visa or entry permit.

7by7 - The residence card in France is a carte de sejour and allows access to all Schengen countries of which the UK is not in :annoyed:

TVE - Yes she has a carte de sejour valid until 2020, however this only allows entry to Schengen countries (unless I am mistaken of course).

Thanks you guys for the reply - unless anything better comes along I'll go the route of the visitor visa for 10 years.
