Hi!

I am travelling on my Canadian passport with my mother who holds a Bangladeshi passport. We arrive in Bangkok from Hawaii (via Seoul) at 2300 hrs and our next flight isn't before the next day at 1100hrs! Found out that our airline, Korea Air, is not giving us any hotel despite such a long layover for a patient with disability.

Can anyone tell me if my mother needs a transit visa to get out of the airport to any hotel nearby or airport hotel to sleep comfortably overnight? If yes, what are the requirements and how soon does it get processed?

Thanks,

Ash.

If she doesn't leave the airport, no visa is required provided she doesn't stay longer than 12 hours in transit.

It seems you want to leave the transit area, in which case your mother needs to apply for a regular tourist visa before traveling.

Iata states this: (based on traveling from Bangladesh to Krea with stop over in BKK)

National Bangladesh (BD) /Transit Thailand (TH)

Destination Korea (Rep. of) (KR)ALSO
