Hello all,

Back again, :)

So i have been getting alot of mixed reviews on this question, so i thought that someone may be able to clarify the route to take? My GF and i have successfully had 1 previous UKTV, where we applied for 2 weeks and my GF stayed only 2 weeks! This visa has run out now. We wanted to apply for another, with a time of 3 months stay. We have been told its easier to ask for 2 weeks, and stay longer as the visa is 6months, or we could ask for the correct 3 months which may stand a higher chance of being rejected? I also wanted to know if we ask for 2 weeks and stay longer, would this have any detromental effects for future applications?

I welcome any feedback, thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Barnesus

A standard UK visit visa is for 6 months, and unless the ECO has a justifiable reason for restricting the length of the visa, this is what is issued.

You, or rather the applicant, must complete the application completely and truthfully. If the intention is to stay for three months then this is what they must say. If she has a genuine reason for staying in the UK for three months, or longer, then there is no reason why there would be a greater chance of rejection than if saying she intends to stay for 2 weeks.

There is no reason under the immigration rules why a visitor cannot stay longer than originally stated, as long as they leave the UK when or before their visa expires. However, it can cause credibility issues in future applications if they do so. Therefore, in future applications they should provide a brief explanation of why they did so.

I asked for a six month period for my now Thai wife and got it, if you just tell them why you want her to stay for three months, And as long as you can show that you can suport her and she will return to Thailand. there should not be a problem

Insert the length of time you wish to stay in the UK.
