Insecure

Featured Replies

How do you say insecure in Thai? e.g someone who is worried about the way they look too much, not self confident etc. Also is there a word for paranoid?

ไม่อุ่นใจ is my translation of being insecure. I leave it to the other experts.

Be cautious in responding to this guy. He posted a question on where could he get baking soda without aluminum several months back. As baking soda can be used for cooking, baking powder, and an antacid - all of which can contain aluminum I posted a source for an antacid without aluminum. He had a tantrum and essentially called me a jerk which is perhaps the word he should be looking up.

Man i think you re-read and check out your sarcasm first.

Anyway completely off topic and boring.

Thanks for the pm's and posts on this topic, cant really read Thai though, can anyone write it in english for me?

I would say ไม่มีความมั่นใจในตัวเอง

อุ่นใจ means comfortable, so it's not quite correct.

insecure is ไม่มั่นใจ

lack of self confidence is ไม่มั่นใจในตัวเอง

You can say that somebody lacks self confidence: เขาเป็นคนไม่มั่นใจในตัวเอง

paranoid is ระแวง

If you'd say that somebody is paranoid you'd say เขาเป็นคนขี้ระแวง

Try Here for a phonemic translation

I found the above site not 100% foolproof, but good enough most times

Excellent suggestion Penkoprod.

However if the OP cant read Thai he wont know what to copy and paste.

So here goes,

insecure is ไม่มั่นใจ mai man jai

lack of self confidence is ไม่มั่นใจในตัวเอง mai man jai nai tua eng

You can say that somebody lacks self confidence: เขาเป็นคนไม่มั่นใจในตัวเอง khao ben khon mai man jai tua eng

paranoid is ระแวง ra waeng

If you'd say that somebody is paranoid you'd say เขาเป็นคนขี้ระแวง khao ben khon khee ra waeng

Best of luck being understood, your vowel length and tone will be all over the place, best just to print out what poster Mole wrote.

I also apologise if my transliteration isnt what others may be used to.

^^ Never heard of "cut and paste" at all?^^ ;)

I can't read Thai, either, so thats what i did...ye olde cut and paste jobby :whistling:

Thanks for all the help guys. Great links and translations for me to try and learn :-)

I am very happy to see you have changed your methodology. Live long and prosper and do not condemn those that try and help you.

So i'm not sure why it is so important why you want to be seperating your Insecurety from Paronia?

Nevertheless the answer as always, comes from within!

And your inserecurity will need to be worked on by you!

Good Luck,

translation from English to Thai will not help your underlying problem!

@James24, can you give us a sentence or two using these words? Also, Thais use English loanwords. A lot.

For example, he feels rather insecure and doubts if he will attract her. หนุ่มไม่ค่อยชัวร์ว่าสาวจะชอบหรีอปล่าว (Literally: He's not sure if she'll like (likes) him.)

Ten other people may say it ten different ways or construct one idea in twenty different sentences that mean two hundred different meanings.

Paranoid is also ระหวาดระแวง
