Can Airbags Be Added?

Featured Replies

hi all,

Have the 2011 Fiesta Sport Thai built of-course.

Our model has the measly yet better than nothing 2 airbags.

Exported models have full 7 airbags on the "safety Pack". (ie. Malaysia and Australia that I know of)

I am wondering if I harass my dealer enough and wave some money they can add the extra 5 airbags (or even extra side curtain airbags)?

Anyone know anything about this?

In my opinion...I don't think so...

Sure you can add them.

Just another question,do they have to function as well.:D

preferably yes.

Have a 20 mth old in the back.

Its not my driving I don't trust, its 'them'.

Side airbags would be some extra added relief.

I would think the wiring is already in place but the biggest problem is you will have to fit the sensors and the bags. I would say it can be done but a dealer would not be interested you will have to ask around and keep this post alive someone might know.

It would be possible, but would require a ton of research on your part to get overeas market service manuals and all the part numbers, as no Thai dealer service tech is going to understand what's entailed.

Also, seeing as airbags are usually only ever purchased by insurance companies, the prices as spare parts are usually astronomical - my guess is it would be totally uneconomical...

Thanks Moon River,

I thought as much, until a 7 airbag (if ever) is available on the thai Market, I guess it would be pointless even trying.

Even then I may as well just trade up to a new model or something else.

Worth a try.

lol
