Do Thais View The Floods As An Omen?

Featured Replies

Have any of your significant others expressed the view (or rather, fear) that the current flooding is a omen of things to come?

some think evil comes to these who did evil (red shirts).

Of course it is nonsense.

Omen of what - the return of the special one (Jose Mourihno)?

The flood precedes the coming of Taskin, ill let you guys work out what is worse :D

I don't know but I see it as an ironic thing to happen in the context of the burn down Bangkok rhetoric of the red shirts, now in power.

I see it as an omen, not sure about the Thai people though. Nature has had enough of this country being ran the way it has and has decided to take it back.

Ain't karma a pain? :)

Chinese people tell me the great Tangshan Earthquake in 1976 was seen as an omen. Mao died a few months later.

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, easy to predict after it happens.

So if we are to believe in Omens, are you suggesting something / anything bad that happens in the next year, 5 years, millennium can be attributed to the flooding? Convenient.

Gee, let me see....

No, I can't recall they did...maybe because they didn't have the time?

Between helping the work crews putting up sandbag barriers (the 3 males in the family) in the local sois, preparing and delivering food for the work crews (my wife, her daughter, and her grand daughter), donating money (me) to buy food for those evacuated from other flooded areas, and all of us (with others) helping to pack and deliver those food supplies to the emergency distribution center in Don Mueang; and then also building/assembling a rack to store our belongings high enough to keep them safe and dry...I guess we just didn't have the time to stop and worry about that.

I see it as an omen that we'll be expanding into the bottled water business within the year. I hope you're sitting down, but get ready for real cube shaped ice cubes as well.

:)

My wife says it is punishment for electing a woman to run the country.

Sounds reasonable to me

Not so sure. Sounds like karma.
