Community Man Takes His Own Life After Being Scolded for Reckless Driving
Picture courtesy of Naewna. A 28-year-old man took his own life in an incident in Sattahip district, Chonburi province, after reportedly becoming upset when criticised for his reckless driving. Police at Na Jomtien Station received a report of a suicide near a canal in Soi Rai Sukkhaphot 2, Moo 7, Na Jomtien subdistrict. Upon arrival at the scene, officers from Forensic Division 2, rescue volunteers from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation, and forensic investigators discovered the deceased hanging from a takhop tree, near the canal. The victim, identified as Mr. Somporn Homsin, was found wearing a red shirt and long denim trousers. A pair of green sandals and a black shoulder bag were found nearby. There were no signs of physical assault, according to a preliminary examination. According to testimony from Mr. Sompornâs girlfriend, Ms. Kamonrat Channamdaeng, the incident stemmed from a domestic disagreement the previous afternoon (28 June). She recounted that she and her mother were on their way to buy seafood, with Mr. Somporn behind the wheel. His habit of tailgating and erratic driving prompted her and her mother to scold him for being dangerous and potentially causing an accident. Mr. Somporn reportedly took the reprimand to heart, returning home visibly upset. He later left on his motorcycle before returning once more to ask his uncle for money, saying he intended to return to his home province of Nakhon Sawan. He then departed alone. His body was discovered the following morning by the canal. Ms. Kamonrat further revealed that the deceased had a history of psychiatric illness and was required to take daily medication. She suspected that he had not taken his medication recently and that the combination of emotional distress and lack of treatment may have contributed to his decision to end his life. Police have documented the scene and sent the body to Sattahip KM.10 Hospital for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death. The deceasedâs remains will later be released to his family for religious rites. Right lads, got some fresh Pattaya madness for ya. So I decided to haul me sorry arse back to the gym yesterday, not âcause itâll ever turn me into some Dorian Yates, mind you, but more âcause Iâve been havinâ a bit of luck lately chattinâ up the local talent between sets. Thought Iâd keep the momentum goinâ, I reckon. Well, turns out yesterday was a proper write-off. Soon as I walk in, I clock this geezer Iâve seen knocking about in there maybe once or twice every fortnight. Looks normal enough, bit pale like heâs allergic to sunlight and all that, but lads, this geezer stinks. And I donât say that lightly about anyone, mates. I mean the odd whiff of sweat like a bloke whoâs put in a shift, fair game. Nah. I mean this blokeâs got a proper nostril-curdlinâ pong. Like someoneâs stored raw onions in his armpits for a month. Smell so thick you could spread it on toast. This gym ainât exactly Wembley Stadium either, yeah. And when it gets busy it can turn into a right sweatbox, and then his personal cloud of death gas fills the whole place quicker than a cheap vape. I see a couple of Thai lads bailinâ halfway through their sets, shakinâ their heads, leavinâ early, eyes waterinâ like theyâve been peelÂing onions themselves. Now hereâs where it gets juicy. One of the trainers, nice bloke but not what youâd call confrontational, sidles up to me lookinâ like heâs about to ask me to help him bury a body. Quiet voice, he goes, âLewie, maybe you talk with him na? He same-same you.â Same-same me, mate? Cheers for the subtle hint, bruv. Just âcause the ladâs speakinâ the Queenâs donât mean I wanna be ambassador for the stinkinâ unwashed. And itâs not like heâs banginâ up the equipment or throwing the weights, then the staffâd be all over him like seagulls on chips. But a sensitive subject like reekinâ up the joint? Nah, theyâre hopinâ Iâll do their dirty work just âcause we both order blood sausage for brekki. So I gave it the old polite dodge, told âem sorry boys, I ainât about to sit him down for a personal hygiene intervention. I come here to flirt with girls who may never date me and maybe lift a dumbbell or two, not to play social worker for the armpit assassin. And hereâs the thing that does me head in: it ainât hard, is it? Bit of roll-on, a quick squirt of Old Spice or whatever your poison is, and Bobâs your uncle, bosh, problem solved. Yet here we are, a grown man in a small gym turning the air into a biological weapon. Left me scratchinâ me gob all the way home. How can you be adult enough to sign a gym contract and load up on protein shakes, but not clock youâre fumigating half the room every time you raise your arms? Gym life in Patts, lads. Never dull, but sometimes itâs bloody hard on the nose. -
