Palestinian militants fire five more rockets at southern Israel

2011-11-01 01:41:12 GMT+7 (ICT)

TEL AVIV (BNO NEWS) -- Palestinian militants fired several rockets from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Monday despite a truce, Israeli officials said. No injuries or damages were reported in the latest attacks.

A warning siren was sounded before a rocket landed in an open area south of Ashkelon, a coastal city in the South District of Israel. Two other rockets later hit the Sdot Negev Regional Council while a fourth struck the Sderot area. A fifth rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome.

The attacks came after more than 40 rockets and mortar shells were fired at southern Israel over the weekend, despite a truce which lasted only several hours. The IDF responded to the airstrikes by targeting nine sites in the Gaza Strip on Saturday and early Sunday morning.

Although no casualties or damages were reported from Monday's attacks, a 56-year-old man identified as Moshe Ami was killed on Saturday evening when he was hit by shrapnel from a Grad rocket which hit his car. He was later buried in Ashkelon.

The cell which allegedly fired the rocket which killed Moshe Ami reportedly belonged to the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which carried out the attack in response to the killing of alleged militants by an Israeli airstrike on October 29.

Egypt is now trying to mediate a second ceasefire.

"Until now, the IDF has harmed the Islamic Jihad's rocket manufacturing and firing infrastructure, including a senior member who was responsible for these things," Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said, warning Islamic Jihad and Hamas leaders "not to test our abilities."

Interesting to me at least, was the Haaretz video of the Palestinians setting up a grad rocket to fire into Israel. The video was taken by a hovering Israeli drone.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/watch-gaza-militants-prepare-to-launch-rocket-at-israel-1.392651

Keeping in mind, the drone's vulnerabilities:

"...Further, PGO concluded, "Because it cannot evade radar detection, flies slow, is noisy, and must often hover at relatively low altitudes, the Predator is vulnerable to being shot down by enemy fire. In fact, an estimated 11 of the 25 Predators destroyed in crashes reportedly were caused by enemy ground fire or missiles."

Some improvements to the above situation have taken place since the above study but none were significant, the drone is still slow and noisy.

These terrorists were operating under a noisy drone hovering above them. The obvious question is why did the drone operators not take out the terrorists and how did the terrorists not notice the noisy drone hovering above them? You can clearly see the drone's cross hairs in the picture and taking out these terrorist would be quite simple. I guess it is possible for this drone to not be armed but I seriously doubt that. They all fly armed. It was reported that as many as 25 rockets were fired in the two days. This particular drone operator would surely know what is happening on the ground and be alerted to other rockets being set up at the time.

The Hamas thugs who control Gaza can't control their brethren and/or they approve of the rocket launches. If they approve, then they know that for each Israeli killed or injured, a bunch of Palestinians will be killed and injured - usually innocents - though even innocents should know better than to hang anywhere near bad boys. Of course, Hamas don't mind the self-destructive armnaments launched by their hot-head brethren, because it fits with their big plan of provoking an invasion by Israel. Then a lot more innocent Gazeans will be killed (so what, in their view), and Hamas will gain the sympathy of the world's bleeding heart clubs and .....more money poured in their laps.

It's not much different than the N.Koreans who keep rattling their nuclear sabers in order to get attention (and hand-outs) from the world community. One difference, the N.Koreans cause their people to get killed by starvation and gulags, whereas the Gazans cause their people to get killed by Israeli munitions. Either way, they're both vying for hand-outs from rich countries.

Not only are those Palestinians pesky, they are suicidal.
