Wondering about 'for'. My dictionary has เพื่อ puua and สำหรับ Sam rap under the entry for 'for' but I don't hear these said much apart from the advert that says samrap khun at the end.

So are they used much?

How would you say:

That is for you

Is that for me?

What is that object for?

Can you open it for me?

เพื่อ is used for actions while สำหรับ is used for things. Actually there are many more words used as "for"

สิ่งนั้นไว้ทำอะไร

Can you open it for me? (ให้ is used for "for" here)
