Rimmer
Banlue mounts 3rd campaign to clean up Pattaya’s ugly utility cables PATTYA: -- Pattaya will take another stab at trying to clean up the tangled mess of telephone and electrical cables along Sukhumvit Road. At an Oct. 20 Pattaya City Hall meeting, Councilman Banlue Kullavanijaya said work will begin Nov. 9 in front of Pattaya School No. 7 and continue into December. Banlue has made untangling the spaghetti-like network of wires in his district his personal crusade, twice dragging telephone and utility company workers to Sukhumvit Road to watch as city workers pulled unused wires off poles in front of a pack of photographers. phaethon
It's not just Sukhumvit in Pattaya. From Bangkok to Chiang Mai and all points in between, all Thailand's best tourist photo-opportunities are disfigured with poles and masses of cables strung in front of them with no regard for appearance, let alone safety. It's not easy to find examples because most times I'l walk away from a pretty little wat, in CM for example, because I can't get a clear, or at least photoshoppable, shot. Just a tourist/photographer's perspective. Edited November 5, 2011 by phaethon
xen
If it is successful then pattaya city will not have to send out crews to mangle and butcher the trees so you will have more attractive , and slighty cooler streets - cost savings for the city too and safer for everybody. Only wish Councilman Banlue Kullavanijaya luck .
