Border Run To Laos

Featured Replies

I need to do a border run to laos. unfortunately, i only have one full page left in my British passport. also, on the other side of this page is the stamp from my multiple entry visa, which is showing through slightly. i understand that the VOA in laos is an entire page, so will i have sufficient space in passport, and will the showing through page be an issue?

Get a new passport or add pages if you can, the visa on arrival takes a full page and you also need a page for the departure and entry stamps. Some people have said you aren't allowed to use the last page as well. There was a recent thread about this same exact topic, try finding it for more info.

unfortunately, i don't have time to get new passport. normally, i fly to malaysia from bangkok, which is not a problem as far as visa requirements. due to the flooding i had to relocate near to laos border at short notice, so not sure what to do now. i have sufficient space on other pages for arrival/depature stamps, but was not aware about not being able to use last page for Laos visa. i have tried looking for the thread you mentioned, but can't find it - do you have a link?

Believe thread was about US passport; not UK. For US the last two pages are reserved for endorsements of passport and so notated.

That's great! i think i will apply for the visa at a Lao consulate in advance, just to be sure. hopefully, it will save me a trip to bangkok!

Not by air?

If you want to be 100%sure, jump on a bus to the Malaysian border.

Their stamp is tiny and will even fit any open small

spot in an already used page.

It will take forever15-20hours? But the cost will be about the same since

its free to cross the border, contrary to the 30dollar fee at Lao border.

i hope to cross the laos border by bus. are the laos stamps by air larger?

That never seemed to slow own various immigration officials. I had stamps on those pages in near new passports.

It is the Lao visa, not the immigration stamp, that takes up a full page. For Malaysia, EU citizens don't need a visa and hence no full page is required for that.
