Extension Of Stay

Featured Replies

Could someone verify a question for me please? I'm traveling to Laos at the end of the month. Do I need to go to immigration to tell them I'm leaving the country, and fill in a re-entry form? I have a spouse visa that says multiple entries. More info would be appreciated. Thanx in advance

if it's a current visa, not an extension of stay, and, as you say, it's a multiple entry visa then you don't a re-entry permit, you can come any up until the visa expiry date.

Cheers for that. But i dont get what extension of stay means.my visa lasts 1 year. I only ask because when I was at immigration last month for my 90 day check, I told them I was traveling to oz. I had to fill out a form, and pay 2000thb. Must have got ripped off I guess?

Above posts moved from unrelated topic in Visas to other countries forum.

Since you are claiming to do 90 day reports, it seems that you are on an extension of stay and not on a multiple non-immigrant visa entry. 2,000 baht seems to suggest that you were late in reporting your stay.

The easiest way to know what you exactly have is if you scan your visa, with all personal details edited out. Otherwise look at the stamp that says untill what date you are allowed to stay. Who give that stamp (immigration at the border or at an office) and how long are you allowed to stay (90 days or 1 year).

What says multiple, the non-O visa itself you got from a consulate abroad or is there a stamp that says multiple re-entry permit, valid till ******************.

Thanx for the help. I will tell you exactly what my passport says. non-imm, re-entry permit.valid until 28/03/2012.no of persons 1, no. of entries single, length of stay until 28/03/2012. It was stamped at the imm office. But on another page it has Thai wife notice, permitted up to 28/03/2012, and it says to keep your stay permit a re- entry permit must be made before leaving. I don't understand, sorry for any confusion, but it's all new to me. And the 2000thb I paid wasn't because I was late. It's the fee for a re- entry permit. I paid it last month when I went to oz, bur when I went to Vietnam late last year, I didn't fill one out?

The correct fee is 1,000 baht for a single re-entry permit - did you pay for two by chance (you mention another trip).

You seem to be on an extension of stay, based on having a Thai wife.

The question is if you now still have a re-entry permit or not. as Lopburi says, a re-entry permit is 1,000 baht for a single and you had a trip to Oz already. Did you bought 2 single re-entry permits?

The one you used for your trip to Oz should be stamped "USED" and is no longer valid. If there is another re-entry permit in your passport, not stamped "USED" that would explain the 2,000 baht.

If you do have another re-entry permit, you simply leave the country and upon return fill in the number of your re-entry permit on the arrival card. Immigration will than stamp you in untill 28/03/2012.

Ahh! Now I understand. Yes, the re-entry permit is stamped used. And my previous one was not. So that explains the 2000thb. Thankyou very much to all that have helped! Just another quick one....do I have to go to the imm office in chaeng wattana to get the re- entry permit? Can u get them at the airport? Due to the floods, not sure if I can get there

If you have a re-entry that is not used it can be used for next trip. Old immigration office at Suan Plu is open and dry so that is best choice. Airport has a desk but have not seen any recent reports. Should be open 06-2400 but be sure to have photo/copies and price is a bit higher.

Hi guys, thanx for the info. I definitely need a re-entry permit, and looks like suan pru is the place to go. But just wondering..... Can you get re-entry permits at the Laos border? I'm flying to udon Thani, and driving over the border. Would save me a lot of hassle if I could do this

No, you cannot get them at the border.
