Saphan Khwai

9/11/11 1730

Water level north of Klong Bang Sue on Phaholyothin Rd in the northbound lanes on the Mochit side of the klong is down very slightly so water is NO LONGER flowing into the klong on the western side of the bridge over the klong.

Everything else in my message #13 in this topic from this morning is unchanged.

Phaholyothin Rd south of Klong Bang Sue did not have any water including the Saphan Khwai Big C and BTS areas.

Are you on Laad Pla Khao ? The road which goes from ChokChai 4 up to RamIndra?

GM Link I think he's hereabouts. He didn't complain yesterday when I posited him thereabouts.

Thanks, its where I thought thanks its roads sois and sub-sois which confuse the issue.

Any updates on rama 2? There have been reports of flooding that don't say exactly where. I have a friend whose going to try to get into Bangkok tomorrow from that direction.

Rama 2 Road is still OK and should be for at least a couple of more days..

Some water is coming out of drains on a few Sois on both sides of street but only at low levels.

And water hasn't yet reached the Rama 2 area SW from the BKK-Samut Sakhon border.

Edit: I just read the Live Report post about water at Tesco Lotus Rama 2 Road. It must be referring to off of the main road.

My wife just drove from Central Rama 2 to Muang Samut Sakhon and said no water on the road... but lot's of traffic, cars parked near Central Plaza and many vendors on the the side of the road selling flood-related items.

Should a friday morning run to BKK using Rama 2 into town, then expressway to Chaengwattana / tiwanon be ok? Not sure if I should take my sedan in, or just Bus it. Need to get into town to clean the house.

BTW, water is still dropping in Pak kret area - still need a boat but things seem to be improving on the north part of bkk west of the river.

Probably should have reported this earlier...but it's been a hectic day.

Here in Soi 42 Ladorakhao Road the floodwater is gone today from the whole soi.

Still water on the main Ladprakhao Road but definately lower. Even rear of soi, where two days ago there was thigh high water is dry today.

This started yesterday. Don't know where it went but definately a lot of water went away (somewhere) last night.

As I said before, however, my location here is 10 to 20 cm. higher than Ladprakhao Road. That's making a big difference here in my soi.

I wouldn't be surprised if within 48 hours at the most, a lot of Ladprakhao road will be dry.

But that may NOT be good news for others closer to "inner" Bangkok...because the water that was almost knee high 2 days ago has to be going somewhere.

Hang on, how is this possible? You are south of Ram Inthra rd. I have not heard anything about water going down there.

As many people have said, the BBB is holding back water and will do so for 7 days. I think what they are hoping for is that the most of the flood water gets forced into the rivers and canals, after that pressure easing. I mean, if 500+million cbm is going into the sea a day, it has got to recede sometime.

scott1999, if you are near Khun Bon or Ram Inthra km.8, I would love to hear what the situation is. Last information I have was 60-80cm at Ram Inthra/Khu Bon/Nawamin intersection.

Rama 2 Road through to the expressway is likely still OK on Friday morning.

May be I am looking in the wrong places, but I can't notfigure out if the water is successfully being reduced or just that is being heldup stream in a big pools like in Rangsit and is just a matter time they allcome down.

Any ideas?

Water down in my village in Watcharaphon 3 cms since Monday. Wondering if this is good news or just a hold up of water like you mentioned......

And for those who wondered, I got a place on Ekamai for a month, moved the family here and we will wait it out til it is safe to drive the CRV in to home. will go back every 4-5 days to check nothings and will let you know. The village send s a daily report so will let you know the cm raise or drop.

Tom, thanks for the Watcharapol update even you are not able to be there !

I also need to go home and prepare for longer stay away. HOW you could travel to Watcharapol ? as long as I could be in Watcharapol, I could take the moo baan truck.

cheers

Bangbon3 is clear almost to Khlong kwan before Pekhasim, after that it's quagmire. The big Klong after what I call "bottleneck bridge" is supposedly impassible. I can only get from Sarasas to what used to be the tent market halfway between Ekachai and Pekhasem, as of today, so I cannot verify this (and do not want to). The vendors are on the road now, as well as several families that have nowhere to go. Some are casting drag nets into the klong to catch fish! The sois on both sides of the Bangbon3 are flooded, but Ekachai is clear. Nearby Thonburi is inundated and their water is headed our way.

The floodmaps suggest the situation here can only deteriorate, and I hope they are wrong, but the water is steady--neither dropping nor rising right now on my side. On the side towards Ekachai and Pekhesem heading toward downtown, the water is rising slowly (maybe 5 cm/ day).

If you are not here, stay away. 7/11 has 50% empty shelves and the shopkeepers at 108 Shops and such are leaving. In two days food will be hard to find here, and will require a trip to Rama 2 mall or Maxvalu on Ekachai. I have stores for a week, and will go Tuesday.

Stay safe!

Krungthep Kreetha is nearly impassable now by small cars! If it continue rising by another 50 cm or so, the Suvarnabhumi Expressway will be under water!

GM Link Isn't that the Krungthrep Chon Buri Motorway (7) to the south? I'm concerned about the sports club and golf course. Apocalyptic!

What part of KK? I am on soi 7, and it is maximum 20cm with many small cars passing. I will got to Srinakarin on the way to work this morning so will get a better idea of other areas. Also saw a local shop with 1.5 litre bottles of Singha water

Yes it is, people were still playing golf last afternoon, but the water has been rising pretty fast the last 24hr.

I'm at Soi 32 which is still pretty dry, but water started to come out of the drains outside our moo baam last night. Drove down past the Unico golf course to Soi 8 last night and the water was still managable but and the worst part is around Soi 18. Do you have any idea of how much water to expect? So far I have taken comfort in the fact that the Suvarnabhumi expressway should stay dry, but right now I'm in doubt...

How much water? No. No idea. Does anybody? Bangkok Post this morning says all the water will be drained from Bangkok in 11 days, so has the worst passed? My soi seems to be maybe half a metre above KK so am I safe?

You can be pretty sure your golf course is flooding when ... :annoyed:

Sorry for a slightly off topic posting here. I'd like to say a big thanks to Thai Visa for this thread. I read it countless times during the day and it's the only place I believe I can get reliable information.

Now I have just read this

Flood-crisis network to rely on public reportsAsina Pornwasin

The ICT Ministry has linked up with Chulalongkorn University to launch the "Thai Crisis Planner & Reporter" system, aimed at encouraging people to supply real-time flood information from their areas.

A little late in the day.

Once again thanks to all the posters on this thread.

Maybe TV should send this link to the ICT Ministry.

Buses to North, Northeast continue

The Nation

Despite flooding, Transport Co has continued providing bus services to the North and the Northeast from Bangkok's Mor Chit 2 bus terminal.

Motorists heading for the bus terminal have been advised to use the Rama 6 Road to Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road or use the expressway to Kamphaeng Phet 2 Gate, or use Rama 7 and Ratchawipa Road before doing a U-turn at the kilometre-11 marker to reach Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road. The bus services will be available until flooding makes it impossible. Transport Co has already set up two back-up stations at Pathum Thani's Pratunam-Phra In for buses heading North and Suvarnabhumi Airport for those heading to the Northeast until November 20.

Did the mod have a rough night out yesterday and brought home some entertainment or is there another reason he can't get out of bed this morning?

We should have been on the November 10th by now.

Sukhumvit is still dry.
