Pattaya Journalist alleges assault by five civil volunteer officers

PATTAYA: -- A local journalist reported an alleged assault by a group of Pattaya City Security Volunteers from the Thappraya 2310 civilian volunteer group at the opening ceremony of the Loy Krathong Festival at the Bali Hai Port. Khun Anchar claimed the attack was in revenge for a story he filmed earlier in the week relating to one of the volunteers who was allegedly drunk and in uniform on Pattaya Beach and a woman claimed she was touched in an inappropriate way by him. According to Khun Anchar, the 5 volunteers told the journalist to stop filming the Loy Krathong ceremony and then set-upon him after he informed them he was a local journalist and they had no right to stop him. Other journalists then arrived and attempted to film the altercation and at this point the 5 uniformed volunteers disappeared with Khun Anchar’s two-way radio which they decided to confiscate.
