Uk Passport Expiry & Entry To Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi All ..

my mother is due to visit me in thailand from the UK (staying here for 6 months) .

she is meant to fly out of the UK in a little under 2 weeks.

now she has just noticed that she only has a little over 5 months left on her passort until it expires .

I'm sure i have read that to enter thailand you must have 6 months left on it ? is this right or enforced ?

if she can get here we can send her passport off to hong kong for a new one so as long as they let her in it's not a major issue.

she cannot go to the passport office in the UK so stand in the Que for a new one as at 85 yrs old its too far for her to try and go without assistance.

anyone know anything about this problem please ?

The requirement for 6 months on entry appears to have been removed, however it seems that the requirement for 6 months validity to obtain a visa is still in place.

Since she will be staying for 6 months I assume she will be applying for a visa of some sort.

She will probably not be allowed on her flight from the UK if she does not meet the requirement of either having a visa or having a flight out of Thailand within 30 days.

She would be far better getting a new PP in the UK before she comes...if she doesnt want to stand in queue, get a company in the UK to sort it out for her and pay them or get a relative to do.....you can fast track a PP in UK and have it back in around 24 hours
