One Year Extension Report

Featured Replies

It would appear that the immigration offices upcountry have made permanent changes. My last 90 day address report needed absolutely no copies, not even the TM47 form and uses just a bar code on the receipt form I was given. That was a pleasant surprise. The best part was that the immigration officers were changed. I had no end of hassles from the old boss. He is apparently now permanently gone. (I hope).

I did my yearly extension yesterday and while going to immigration is never a pleasure, this one was as pleasant as it could possibly have been. The office is never busy but rather than getting any hassles, I was in and out within 15 minutes. One TM7 form and one copy of each of my passport pages. The guarantee letter from the bank cost 200 baht and copies of my bank book pages were glanced at and no questions asked because the new officer knew what he was doing and what he was looking for. Very professional.

It's interesting that you mention the medical certificate. The officer that is now gone insisted on one. I made the mistake of telling him that is no longer needed and his reply was that HE needed it. I learned to never question anything he said.

I live in Loei province so I have to go to the Chiang Khan office. I forgot to ask but I can likely use the mail for my 90 day address checks. I'll find out the next time.

As far as I understand it a Medical certificate is NOT required for an extension based on retirement.

This is ONLY required when applying for an O-A retirement visa in your home country.

I can't ever recall giving a med cert in the last 8 years or so here in Phuket and it never takes more than 15 minutes in and out ( if its not busy which it seldom is in July)

Medical certificate is not required, as stated, been there and done that..... For a work permit yes......
