Sending Parcels Back Home To Europe

Featured Replies

Greetings,

Does anybody have any experience with sending parcels with various items back home to western Europe? Chances are quite high that I head back to my country in the west of Europe for some time and it actually came quite unexpected,. It means that I have to pack what i consider to be most important and leave some stuff behind. Most of it can but I have some other items (e.g. suits etc) that i actually would like to take along as well.

Anyone ever send something through post in (big) boxes and has any idea about the price per KG?

:)

I have sent big boxes with DHL which sometimes have discount on their different size boxes. Think I some years back paid 5K for a 10 or 15Kg box. Anyway should be no problem to also send by the post office but can take some time now before Christmas. I usually send some boxes to relatives before Christmas (only 2-3kg) each box and of experience I know that if I want them home to Christmas Eve I need to get them out not much later than 1.December.

Its nearly a year since last time I sent so here it can be I remember wrong, but think it was 1100,- Baht up to 2 Kg and then around 1300 -1400 over 2kg and naturally increasing to heavier the parcel gets.

Recommend you to check this with the post office to be sure.

I send a lot of goods back to Australia,

Cheapest way to do it is to send unaccompanied baggage from the cargo terminal at Phuket airport. Take the turn off before the entrance to the main passenger terminal....head to the loading docks and go to the top floor, the staff speak good English.

Last time I sent unaccompanied baggage it was about 150 baht/kilo to Australia whereas it costs about 200 baht per kilo by Fedex. Mainly I do it by Fedex because its very convenient and they come right to the front door for pickup. The thing is when you exceed 20 kilos with Fedex the price goes through the roof. Also when you exceed 20 kilos you attract the attention of customs at the other end

I wasn’t to far off then for shipping of parcels with normal airmail at least to my own Country. But it increased more quickly than I could remember when over 2Kg.
