We hit this wall of vehicles at 18:00 yesterday about 3 Kilometers from the Toll Gate on the inbound side of the Eastern Outer Ring Road near Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok at Thanyaburi. It took 8 hours to reach the Toll Gate to find out the main reason everyone was slowing down is to see what was going on....... We call it Rubber Necking in the states. Do the math guys. Start at 18:00 Friday afternoon plus 8 hours equals 2:00 in the morning finally getting through the jam Thank goodness it was dark and somewhat cool.

What was everyone looking at?

OUCH!! That's getting close to home, I live out at Klong 10 on Hwy 305, and that entrance to Hwy 9 is right about at Klong 5. FYI, there's a side road on the east side of 9 at that point, wonder if it's flooded?

FYI II, I'm not at home, still real "damp" there, going back for a recon tomorrow, wife says it's OK to come home now, but she's Thai, and waterproof.

And, yes, what was the rubbernecking all about? Skinny dippers there off to the side of the highway?

What was everyone looking at?

There is some construction going on with the Toll Gate. There were men working that night. So everyone had to supervise the men working by watching them instead of driving. This along with about 10 cm of water in the 2 outer lanes was causing a crazy mix of paranoia and nosiness.

I am sorry for the lack of crucial information in my original post. I have been in Thailand too long. My wife laughed t me about the post and said I am starting to communicate like I'm Thai. traffic still bad there tonight. i was on the outbound side. only took 40mins though from 305 to 3312. outbound side remains closed to cars just after the tollway. looked like some had tried it and were parked up afterwards with doors open and bonnets up. road is in bad condition. will be some very busy highway repair companies for next few months. inbound side gridlocked from 3312 to 305
